We are actively seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to support and enhance controls and automation systems across manufacturing facilities in the Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire region. You’ll be an essential part of keeping production running safely, smoothly, and smarter — with the autonomy and backing to make real change.

Your Impact:

  • Design and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and motion control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware)

  • Provide 24/7 emergency support on a rotating schedule — including remote diagnostics using platforms like eWON, TeamViewer, and FactoryTalk

  • Travel to regional manufacturing sites to support system commissioning, troubleshooting, and upgrades

  • Own and manage project life cycles from concept to startup — including electrical design, programming, testing, and validation

  • Develop and maintain control panel schematics and electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Quality) to improve process reliability and efficiency

  • Ensure all work complies with food safety (GMP, HACCP) and electrical safety (NFPA 70E, OSHA) standards

  • Train and mentor junior engineers and support staff in automation best practices

  •  

What You Bring

  • Certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in automation and controls — preferably in food, beverage, or general manufacturing environments

  • Deep experience with PLC/HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA systems, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet)

  • Skilled in remote troubleshooting and diagnostics for urgent support needs

  • Comfortable with on-call, after-hours responsibilities, and quick decision-making under pressure

  • Strong knowledge of control system design, instrumentation, and safety protocols

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills

Junior Controls Engineer

This role is ideal for a Controls Engineer with hands-on experience who’s ready to take on more responsibility while continuing to learn from senior  engineers. You’ll work directly on live production systems, support automation projects across multiple facilities, and build the technical depth needed to  step into a senior role over time.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design, programming, and implementation of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware) 
  • Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, and system upgrades at regional manufacturing sites
  • Participate in remote diagnostics and on-call support alongside senior engineers (eWON, TeamViewer, FactoryTalk) 
  • Maintain and update control panel schematics and electrical documentation (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN) 
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve uptime and process reliability
  • Follow and support compliance with GMP, HACCP, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards
  • Contribute to project planning, testing, validation, and startup activities

What You Bring

  • Degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in automation and controls within manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of PLC/HMI programming and industrial automation platforms
  • Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet) 
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues with guidance when needed
  • Willingness to travel regionally and participate in on-call rotations
  • Strong communication skills and a growth-oriented mindset
